History of the Subway® Scholarship Program

The Subway® Scholarship Fund was created to assist college students who have history of working with SUBWAY® restaurants. It also assists the children of SUBWAY® Franchisees and their staffs that meet the same requirements.

This scholarship was established in 1996 to honor the twentieth anniversary of Pete Slomianyj’s commitment to SUBWAY®. A graduate of the University of Connecticut, Pete worked his way through college and was himself a scholarship recipient. He looks forward to repaying those who helped him by offering assistance to college students who have a history with working with SUBWAY® through North Carolina. We are proud of your hard work and scholastic achievement and wish you luck in your future plans.

2026 Application

The 2026 Application consists of four parts:

  1. Application Questionnaire

  2. Submission of Official Documents

  3. Scholarship Essay

  4. Work Log of Hours

All completed applications must be submitted online via the NCCF portal by July 31st, 2026.

  • $5,000 Scholarship Winner

    “I work at the Subway in Wake Forest. I plan to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to study Business Administration with a minor in Data Science. My goal is to complete my undergraduate degree in three years and then pursue a Master’s in Accounting at UNC during my fourth year. In the future, I aspire to become a CPA and build a career as an accountant, while also owning my own business.”

    “My name is Gabby Greer. I am in my second year of the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program at Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, NC.

    After graduation and my national board exam, I will be a certified occupationaltherapy assistant. I plan to work in a skilled nursing facility helping the geriatric population live their best lives!”

    “Hello, my name is Christina Wilson and I am attending higher education at Appalachian State University in North Carolina. I am studying political science with a concentration in legal studies in hopes to go to law school in the future! I worked for Chapel Hill Subway Group (along with my mom) at Store 33162 in Sanford, NC throughout high school.”

    “My name is Alyssa Partin. am attending the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with the hopes of getting my degree in Exercise Science. I hope after I graduate to apply to graduate school to pursue being an occupationaltherapist. I work at Store 5111 in Clemmons, NC.”
